Larkspur Design works on the ancestral homeland of the Wabanaki tribes, or People of the Dawn. They have stewarded the land here for thousands of years and they are currently fighting for their sovereignty. They are the ONLY federally recognized tribes in the nation that are not sovereign. Because of this, they are not eligible for the majority of federal programs and grants that all other federally recognized tribes have access to. As a result, they have suffered economically and culturally. Take action and find resources at the Wabanaki Alliance website. There is no environmental justice in Maine without tribal sovereignty.
